Person practising Fallen Triangle Pose with one hand and one foot grounded, chest rotating open and the other leg extended underneath the body.

Fallen Triangle Pose

Patita Tarasana

Fallen Triangle is a twisting balance with one hand on the floor, one foot grounded and the other leg extended underneath the body. It builds coordination between the shoulders, core and hips, and it usually feels steadier when you focus on the long line from the grounded hand through the lifted side of the chest rather than trying to drop into the shape quickly.

Forearm Balance Preparation

Pincha Mayurasana Preparation

Forearm Balance Preparation builds the shape and control for Pincha without asking for a full free balance. It strengthens the shoulders and centre, teaches you how to press the floor away through the forearms, and lets you work with the wall if that gives you a steadier setup.

Front view of Firefly Pose with the body balanced on the hands and legs extending forward.

Firefly Pose

Tittibhasana

Firefly Pose is a strong arm balance with the legs reaching forward and the hips lifted from the floor. It asks for deep hip flexion, hamstring length, steady hands and a clear shift of weight into the arms.

Person practising Eagle Pose from the front with legs crossed, arms wrapped, and knees softly bent.

Eagle Pose

Garudasana

Eagle Pose is a standing balance with the legs crossed and the arms wrapped. It asks for steady attention through the feet, hips and shoulders without needing a big range of motion.

Side view of Dancer Pose with one hand holding the lifted foot behind the body while the standing leg balances steadily.

Dancer Pose

Natarajasana

Dancer Pose is a standing balance with one foot held behind you as the chest lifts and the free arm reaches forward or up. It asks for steadiness in the standing ankle and leg, space through the front of the hip and thigh of the lifted leg, and enough control that the backbend does not spill into the lower back.

Side view of Crane Pose with knees resting high on the upper arms and both feet lifted.

Crane Pose

Bakasana Variation

Crane Pose is a compact arm balance that asks for rounded upper back strength, deep hip flexion and a clear forward shift over the hands. It is less about jumping and more about placing the body carefully so the feet can become light.

Side view of Crow Pose with the knees resting on the upper arms and both feet lifted from the floor.

Crow Pose

Bakasana

Crow Pose is a compact arm balance that asks for a rounded upper back, steady hand pressure and a clear forward shift. It is less about jumping up and more about placing your weight carefully over your hands.

Person practising Bound Half Moon Pose with one hand on the floor and the other holding the lifted foot from behind.

Bound Half Moon Pose

Baddha Ardha Chandrasana

Bound Half Moon Pose builds on Half Moon by adding a back-foot hold. It asks for balance, clear standing-leg work, shoulder opening and a controlled backbend, so it usually feels better when approached gradually rather than forced.

Practitioner in Bound Side Angle Pose with front knee bent, torso turned open, and hands clasped around the front thigh.

Bound Side Angle Pose

Baddha Utthita Parsvakonasana

Bound Side Angle Pose combines the legs of Side Angle with a shoulder bind around the front thigh. It asks for steadiness in the feet and legs, space through the chest, and enough hip and shoulder mobility to keep the shape broad rather than cramped.

Person practising Bound Triangle Pose in a standing side bend with a bind around the front leg.

Bound Triangle Pose

Baddha Trikonasana

Bound Triangle Pose builds on Triangle by adding a bind around the front leg. It asks for steady legs, hamstring length, shoulder opening and enough spinal rotation to keep the chest broad rather than collapsed.
