Person standing in Mountain Pose with arms by the sides and feet grounded evenly.

Mountain Pose

Tadasana

Mountain Pose is a simple standing shape that teaches how to organise your weight, legs, pelvis and spine with attention. It often looks easy from the outside, but small changes in the feet and ribs can make the whole pose feel steadier and lighter.

Practitioner in Bound Side Angle Pose with front knee bent, torso turned open, and hands clasped around the front thigh.

Bound Side Angle Pose

Baddha Utthita Parsvakonasana

Bound Side Angle Pose combines the legs of Side Angle with a shoulder bind around the front thigh. It asks for steadiness in the feet and legs, space through the chest, and enough hip and shoulder mobility to keep the shape broad rather than cramped.

Person practising Reverse Warrior in a wide standing stance with front knee bent, back leg straight, and top arm reaching overhead in side view.

Reverse Warrior

Viparita Virabhadrasana

Reverse Warrior keeps the legs working as they do in Warrior II while adding a side bend and lift through the front body. It is less about dropping back and more about finding length from the outer edge of the back foot up through the top fingertips.

Person seated in Fire Log Pose with one shin stacked above the other and spine upright

Fire Log Pose

Agnistambhasana

Fire Log Pose is a seated outer-hip opener with the shins stacked one over the other. The work is mostly in the hips, but the knees can complain if the hips are not ready, so it helps to set it up patiently and use support when needed.

Meet your yoga teacher

Namaste, I am Yogita.

Yoga entered my life early, through the daily practice I saw in my own family. LearnYoga.net is where I share that practice in a way that is visual, practical and welcoming to people who are still finding their feet.

A simple place to start

You do not need to become flexible before you begin yoga. Start with a few clear poses, move without forcing and give yourself enough time to notice what your body is telling you.
