Forearm Balance Preparation

Pincha Mayurasana Preparation

Forearm Balance Preparation builds the shape and control for Pincha without asking for a full free balance. It strengthens the shoulders and centre, teaches you how to press the floor away through the forearms, and lets you work with the wall if that gives you a steadier setup.

Person practising Fallen Triangle Pose with one hand and one foot grounded, chest rotating open and the other leg extended underneath the body.

Fallen Triangle Pose

Patita Tarasana

Fallen Triangle is a twisting balance with one hand on the floor, one foot grounded and the other leg extended underneath the body. It builds coordination between the shoulders, core and hips, and it usually feels steadier when you focus on the long line from the grounded hand through the lifted side of the chest rather than trying to drop into the shape quickly.

Person practising Extended Side Angle Pose in side view with front knee bent, back leg straight and top arm reaching overhead.

Extended Side Angle Pose

Utthita Parsvakonasana

Extended Side Angle Pose builds a clear connection from the feet up through the legs, waist and top arm. It can feel spacious and strong at the same time, but the shape does not need to be deep to be useful.

Practitioner balancing upright in Embryo Pose with legs in Lotus and arms threaded through the legs.

Embryo Pose

Garbha Pindasana

Embryo Pose is a compact seated balance traditionally approached from Lotus, with the arms threaded through the legs and the body balancing upright. It asks for a very easy Lotus setup, calm hips and knees, and enough steadiness in the centre to stay lifted without straining.

Yogi practising Elephant Trunk Pose seated on the floor with one leg lifted high over the shoulder and hands pressing into the mat.

Elephant Trunk Pose

Eka Hasta Bhujasana

Elephant Trunk Pose is a compact seated balance where one leg comes high over the shoulder and the hands press into the floor. It asks for hip flexion, hamstring length, core support and enough spinal lift to stop the shape collapsing.

Front view of Eight-Angle Pose with crossed legs extended to one side and hands pressing into the floor.

Eight-Angle Pose

Astavakrasana

Eight-Angle Pose is a demanding seated arm balance that combines hip mobility, adductor grip, arm strength and clear trunk control. It usually works better when you build the shape in stages instead of trying to jump straight into the full pose.

Person sitting in Easy Pose with legs crossed, spine upright and hands resting on the knees.

Easy Pose

Sukhasana

Easy Pose is a simple cross-legged seat used for breathing, meditation and quiet pauses in practice. The shape is straightforward, but it is usually more comfortable when the pelvis is slightly elevated and the knees are allowed to settle in their own range.

Side view of Ear Pressure Pose with knees bent beside the head and shoulders grounded.

Ear Pressure Pose

Karnapidasana

Ear Pressure Pose is a compact inversion usually entered from Plow Pose, with the knees bending toward the ears. It asks for controlled spinal flexion and a stable shoulder base more than extra force.

Person practising Eagle Pose from the front with legs crossed, arms wrapped, and knees softly bent.

Eagle Pose

Garudasana

Eagle Pose is a standing balance with the legs crossed and the arms wrapped. It asks for steady attention through the feet, hips and shoulders without needing a big range of motion.

Person practising Eagle Arms Stretch with one arm wrapped under the other and elbows lifted in front of the chest.

Eagle Arms Stretch

Garudasana Arms

Eagle Arms Stretch wraps one arm under the other to spread the space across the upper back and work into the shoulders. It is a simple shape, but it feels clearer when the elbows stay roughly in front of the chest and the shoulders do not creep up.
